anybody see this video of Brenden Foster?
little hero with a big heart.
romans 12:11 was on my mind last week. had to keep looking at it.
i was thinking about what to tell Velocity Church when i was visiting them. since i know firsthand how we christians can get self centered, overfed, and unconcerned, it caught my attention when it says “keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord”.
seems like that is telling us that if our fervor, or fire, or energy, is lacking, it can be restored by serving. i know my own energy for the kingdom is boosted when i’m sharing food downtown.
here’s the cool thing; saturday morning, we were getting ready to take some pasta-ziti downtown. i looked at a pan of food, and on the foil cover, guess what was written on the foil? ROMANS 12:11 !!! the same verse i’d been checking out all week!
i said “who wrote this”? found out it was chrissy, whose daughter was supposed to learn it for sunday school that week.
chrissy said that she was getting frustrated while preparing the food, and then she remembered the scripture…. then stepped away and prayed to remember why she was doing it. then she wrote it on the foil…
i think it was God, just challenging us to continue to serve. and to serve with great love.
i couldn’t believe it was right there, written on aluminum foil! God’s soooo cool! (rusty got it and framed it. it’s pretty neat. thanks rusty)
“We can do no great things, only small things with great love.“Â Mother Theresa
one small meal at a time, lovingly prepared. . . . . that’s “dude, share the food”
eh
remember i mentioned how the youngsters have been helping out so much? check this out….
a couple of weeks ago, THEY BROUGHT A YOUNG MAN HOME WITH THEM! from the streets! a young man who lived under a bridge!
he’s been staying with jason, and they’re trying to get him a job, and get his life together. sooo cool, eh?
these young champions of god are showing true love and hospitality, aren’t they?
wow, wow, wow
eh
comments???
hey y’all!
i haven’t been writing much lately, as some of you are pleased to know…. stories come, but sometimes i just don’t notice them.
but, this week, i was so excited to get to order our cargo trailer! over the past year, we’ve had some monetary donations, and, after checking out our options, we decided to special order a 5×8 trailer with a 6′ interior ceiling! no banging heads for most of us!
so, that was fun. it should be ready before december. then we’ll get some shelves in it. maybe we can get a drop-down table mounted to the outside.
and a LOGO on the outside….. which reminds me; we need a logo.. somebody, anybody, get us a logo! the winning entry will receive a free trip to downtown ATLANTA! one day, no nights, free transportation, and one free meal!
anyway, we’ll get a picture of it on here when we get it in town.
stay tuned…

no, silly, it’s not about dog-ooding. it’s about doing good….. (what exactly is ‘dog-ooding’ anyway)?
we’ve had many people helping out on saturdays, lately. it’s been GREAT! so many of these 18-25 yr-olds just keep on coming back. super cool to see.
jason p. has been a great help with the youngsters, and he’s kind of a youngster himself! boy, i sound old, don’t i?
anyway, jason and them were taking everything downtown saturday, and i had to go downtown for something else, so, i snuck over to “spy on them”. not really, but, i did find where they were, and just sorta watched ‘em in action from a distance.
it was so cool to just see the beauty of what happens out there from a 100ft away. it warmed my heart to see the generous hearts sharing food and smiles.
all y’all helpers are great!
