over the last two weekends, i’ve been the lucky recipient of help from teenagers.
the first saturday, 2 teen girls carried food downtown with me. they were so sweet and helpful, loving on the people we met.
last saturday, josh, 16, helped me.
josh was crackin’ me up as we drove toward “the A.T.L.” as he called it. he thought we might need bullet-proof vests, since he’d heard of all the gangs there. i told him i didn’t think we had to worry.
after a couple stops, he realized we were visiting with some very nice people. he was shocked at the number of people on the street. he shared dreams of, when he becomes rich, buying a large hotel to house them. he said that “we’ve got to help them, get them a house or something”.
then, when we were done, we received 2 free energy drinks from a promo-givaway. “a reward for doing good” he thought. (don’t forget, josh; better rewards later). we also talked about the enormity of god. and the smallness of god. good times.
he also has ideas for him and his friends to put on a “skate-demo-fund-raiser” to help the homeless! won’t that be cool???
i used to be afraid of teens. i guess they’re not so bad.Â
